Here's a great new cd just out and it's one of the years nicest surprises! ABE SAVAS AND THE NEW STANDARDS OF BEAUTY present us with their debut cd and it's a real winner! One will notice immediately the high quality production and excellent sound. Also, the songwriting is on top of the game! This is melodic power pop which is well crafted and full of catchy melodies and glorious harmony vocals which are spot on! My favorite track is the opener "ANYTHING CALLED LOVE" In a perfect world this song would be a number #1 hit. It's really that good! On "ONE STEP APART" we hear some cool BYRDS 12 string guitar--another winner! "MARILOU" delivers some killer sax in the spirit of Harrison's "Savoy Truffle" from the Beatles " White Album " On "ACTORS" we hear a beautiful guitar picking ballad that would make Simon and Garfunkle proud! "DOING IT WRONG " sports a cool upfront bass riff and channels the spirit of ARCTIC MONKEYS. "BRUCE LEE" is a fun rocker that has a great groove! "HAND GRENADE" is in the spirit of John Cougar Mellancamp and is very catchy! All in all this is a great cd which holds the listeners attention from start to finish. Congratulation to ABE and his band on making an excellent album! and one that they should be very proud of !
